within the fold
This work begins with what remains. At the end of a printing session, I gather the leftover ink into sheets of parchment, folding them intuitively, without plan. What starts as an act of preservation—saving a color for later, holding onto the memory of a past print—becomes an unexpected site of transformation.

For months I set these ink-filled parcels aside with the idea that I would someday return to them, reuse them, match a color, resurrect a moment from an earlier print. But when I opened the folder where they had been resting, I found that the inks had already transformed themselves. Seeping and settling, they had pressed their way into the parchment, producing images shaped by their own inclinations—generating topographies where intention and chance converge, completing their own quiet work.

In my practice, I often find significance in what remains: the traces, fragments, and materials that resist disposal. These works ask us to consider the beauty of the marginal—the remnants, the byproducts, the quiet accumulations of labor. In saving, revisiting, and recontextualizing these fragments, I explore time, accumulation, and impermanence, revealing the poetic resonance of what might otherwise be discarded.

Each folded parcel becomes a vessel for reflection, they remind me that creation extends beyond the conscious hand, and that art is not only what we make but also what we save, return to, and allow to reveal itself slowly.
